How to Connect a DVR Using an Android Phone
To begin, open up the TechPro++ app on your device. You will need to set up a few basic things before you are able to connect your DVR.
The first thing you will have to get is the internal IP of your DVR, the TCP port of the DVR, and the username and password. To get this information, go to Main Menu>Settings>Network in the interface.
Add DVR to Device Manager
To start, tap the icon on the top left corner. Next select Device Manager. Then select Add in the upper right corner. Select Manual Add. This is where you will need to input your information (Name, Address, Port, Username, Password, Channel).
For name, you can use any name that is suitable for you. In address, you’ll need to use the internal IP of the DVR. For Port, enter whatever the TCP port is set to on your DVR. Then enter the Username and Password of the DVR. For Channel, it will be the amount of channels or the amount of cameras that you’re going to have on your DVR.
When you are done, select save. Then click the menu icon in the top left corner to go back.
Adding Cameras to Live Preview
In the main menu, select Live Preview. (Note: You will have to make sure that your device is connected to the same internal Wi-Fi router that the DVR is connected to.) Now, select the plus sign for one of the channels in the boxes. Once it is highlighted, select the plus sign again.
Select the green button next to the DVR name that you created to open the drop-down menu. Then select the camera you want to view in the Live Preview. Repeat this step for the rest of the cameras you want to view. To view one of the cameras in full screen, simply double-tap the camera box you wish to view.
In fullscreen mode, turn your device to change to landscape view. You will see the menu appear on the right side. Here you are able to take a snapshot (camera icon), which is stored on your device’s internal storage. Select the star icon to make add that camera view to your favorites.
There is also an extra menu of functions on the bottom of the screen. (Note: For cameras with PTZ functionality, you can select the preview and move the viewing angle by swiping left or right. To zoom in or out, pinch the preview with two fingers.)
Access the DVR Externally
To access the DVR externally, the next thing you will need to do is create an external connection. You will need to know what your external IP is. To find this, access a computer within the same network as the DVR and go to (www.canyouseeme.org).
Return to main menu. Go to Device Manager. Select Add, then select Manually Add. Input your information for the DVR again to distinguish the new external connection (Name, Address, Port, Username, Password, Channel). Once this is complete, select Save.
Now, turn the Wi-Fi for your device off. Return to the main menu. Select Live Preview. Select the plus sign for one of the channels in the boxes. Once it is highlighted, select the plus sign again.
Now, select the green button next to the name you created for your external connection. Then select the camera you want to add. Repeat this step for the rest of the cameras you want to view. The app will give you the same features as the previous one. External connections are especially useful when you want to view your security cameras while you are away from your property.
