Hi all. I am in need of help with a camera setup. So what happened was i did a run of cat 5 cable to an ip camera its Lorex brand and the run is under 150ft. I crimped the cables to the standard color code also it was matched with the original cables that came with the system. So i plugged it all up and the camera isnt coming on and rather than re doing the long run i was thinking of trying to take power and video separately from the nvr if i knew the pinout. I want to crimp the four data to the nvr and power the camera by using a power box but i dont know which of the wires are power and which are video. Also which pins to crimp them onto. Please help me out some one.
Unfortunately, without having access to the manufacturer's diagrams one cannot say which pins they are using. Instead of attempting to send 12VDC and use data pairs I suggest checking your connections to 568B and getting an RJ45 tester, you may get a link light but one f the RX pairs may not be crimped completely or in the wrong pin. You can also test the camera at the recorder or poe source and seeing if its in fact the cable and not the camera.
Best of luck.
