I recently purchased a 16ch mini NVR and I'm actually still in the install phase. I planned to establish alert triggers based on motion in driveway. In order to 'capture a complete vehicle parked at the end of the driveway' the view extends to the street where you see cross traffic auto and pedestrian activity, which I don’t want to set off an alert. This would be camera "A"
Would anyone have a recommendation for having a separate device (alternate camera or otherwise "B") that would only capture motion to near the edge of my driveway, but capture and send the full image from "A"?
I'm open to ideas... I want to be alerted when motion is detected in my driveway only, but if possible I want to capture a full image of what might be at the end of my driveway. The only solution I can think of is to install another camera with a limited view, have it trigger the alert and rely on the existing camera to capture the full view for viewing later if necessary.

Have you considered using a driveway sensor such as the Cartell driveway sensor to monitor the driveway? The Cartell could be used as an alarm input to your NVR to trigger recording. Another option would be to use a Passive InfraRed (PIR) motion detector to detect a car in your driveway. There are commercial quality PIR motion detectors that can be "aimed" at specific areas. The motion detector can also be used as an alarm input.

I got a driveway alarm from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/w.....93068.html
I hijacked the audio wiring and rerouted them to a relay: http://www.radioshack.com/prod.....Id=2062479
Ran wires from the relay into the alarm input of my DVR. That can serve as a trigger to not only start recording, but to send you a text message when motion is sensed (if your DVR supports that.)
