In PSS there is an option to play back multiple channels and make them binding. It doesn't work for me using the 8 channel ultimate mini. I don't think I'm doing it wrong. In Web service, there's not even an option to bind playback. The only place I get binding is in the local interface. Is this the case, or am I doing something wrong?

I just got this unit last August- the 8 channel ultimate mini dvr. BIOS version- 2.616.GV00.0 Build 2013-4-10
I see the settings and understand how to do it, but it doesn't bind playback of them in PSS.

In fact trying just now, if I add two channels and search, when each channel is playing back they are not bound, and when I click on a playback window it brings up that channels own time line. Click on another channel playing back, the time line switches for that channel. All accurate, but no channels are binding in PSS.
I would suggest giving us a call. One of our Techs can assist you with this and verify why you aren't able to do this.

The binding works best when cameras are recording 24/7. Other wise the DVR tries to sync footage by the times from motion. Since motion is recording at different times the time will be out of sync in most cases. Unless both cameras had a motion event at the same time that's what happens.

Oh that's it. I only have motion set up, no full time schedule. Kinda stinks, but I get it. Thanks.

I should clarify to say that binding does work perfectly in the dvr local interface. Remotely though in PSS there's a catch in that you need to be recording 24/7. I don't think there's even a binding option in web service playback. Since binding is no problem in the local interface, maybe this is something that can be included in a future release of PSS or webs service. It would be great to have binding playback remotely, just as it is in the local interface.

The interface is radically different, but on the Playback tab all your devices and all your cameras are in the right pane. Choose Main or Extra stream at the top of the right pane, checkmark some cameras, click a day on the calendar below that, then click the Search button below the calendar. The timelines at the bottom of the screen populate. Click on a timeline where there is video and it starts to play.
WHILE IT'S PLAYING click the synch icon to the left of play/pause. Voila! Any channel with no video says "the channel has no record in current period" while the other channel(s) play, but play, pause, speed are all locked together. The timeline at the bottom is what makes SmartPSS great: roll the mouse wheel to zoom in/out incrementally, then use the thumb bar to slide that window around in time. You can also click arrows to jump to the previous or next day.
WARNING: SmartPSS can NOT be used to configure last year's DVRs, even though it can view and playback video just fine, and trying to configure them may mess you up badly. The old PSS apparently can NOT be used at all with the new DVRs.

My last post seems a bit incoherent because the first paragraph was deleted by the moderator to make the post comply with forum rules (no links). Sorry both for inadvertently breaking rules and making a confusing post. That post was about SmartPSS (Smart-PSS_Eng_IS_V1.00.7.R.20131119), which handles "binding" or synchronized playback far better than PSS. Zeke pointed me in the direction of SmartPSS while working on something else, so thought I'd pass along his wisdom.
Thanks for passing the information along and for helping others 😉
