Hi there I know I had the flu but I am having problems logging in externally using tech pro. I can log in through my local network no problems and I have logged in past via externally. I am aware that I have a dynamic ip and have changed it accordingly. I have put my I public IP address in the address bar as I do with my internal ip and I can't log in? Am I forgetting something? I am looking at getting either a static ip or using dyn in the future.

I look forward to your help to a flu infected e brain

thanks

Hello and welcome to our Forum. In order to access your DVR using the external IP address you will need to be outside or away of the location where the DVR resides. Also you will need to make sure that the ports in your router are properly open. You can test this by going to a computer on the network where the DVR is and open Internet Explorer and go to http://www.canyouseeme.org. On the box below your IP address input the HTTP port of your DVR. The Default is 80 but if you have changed it at the DVR make sure you use the correct one. If after the testing the port is successfully open try to test the TCP port. By default is 37777. try that and let us know. If you need us to test it for you please make sure you DON'T post this info in here, instead please send me a personal message (PM).

Thank you!Cool

Do I have to input an actual IP address or can I use a hostname from my dyndns account?  I can remote in using IE from an external address, but having trouble getting the PSS software to work.

Correct you can either use the external IP address if you are trying to connect to your DVR when you are outside your Network as well as domain name, same case. You will need to put this info under the IP field, just the IP address not http:// or :port number at the end on the IP address. PSS uses ONLY the IP address number or domain name. If you are trying to connect to the DVR while you are within the same network as the DVR then you cannot use the domain name nor the external Ip address, instead you will need to use the internal Ip address of the DVR.

Thank you!
