The manual for this NVR doesn't seem to help much; very obscure. Anyway I want to program it in such a way that I can record 2 weeks separately and in the 3rd week writing over the 1st week while leave the 2nd week intact. A constant cycle with the current and previous week always available for playback.
I tried phoning support a couple of times and left messages but no call back. Is there a simple explanation somewhere of how to do this sort of programming?
Hi,
There is quite not possible to record in such of way. The unit has a schedule with periods but it does not offer every two week recording type. You can schedule to record certain days and either will be motion, continuos alarm or simply nothing schedule. Non of our units can be setup like you are specifying. Override will start when the hard drive is full.
The NVR cannot record separate files, although if you have an NVR that support more than 2 Drives then you can set hard drive grouping. You can then assign cameras to record to a specific Drive, but the Schedule is not per drive based, instead is Global. Once any of the drives fill up then it will start overwriting the oldest footage.
I think there has been a misunderstanding of what was trying to be said. Yes all of our machines come defaulted to run the FIFO method of storage, so First In First Out. Anything that is on the HDD in the floating window of time is searchable. So, let's just say you have a 1TB Hard Drive that you normally get 8 days and 3 hours out of. You can pull footage up until 8 days and 2 hours and 59 minutes from your current time. Anything older than that will have already been over written with newer footage. I really hope this helps to clear up any confusion.
