Hello all!

I have a quick question. I have a 16 channel POE NVR, and for installation purposes, I would like to put a passove POE switch behind one of the POE ports for 6 cameras. I understand this will not give me more channels, but instead of plugging in 16 cables, i would plug in 10, with the extra slots being fed from the switch.

Is this possible? It would make my install go so much smoother if it can. I appreciate it!

Hello and good day yes you can use the built in POE for the cameras you would like to connect locally and if you wanted to us a external POE you can connect the switch to the same router (network as the NVR) and add the camera using that scheme. Hope this helps Thanks for doing business with securitycameraking.com If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 866-573-8878 have a great day.

Oh I see, so instead of adding the switch to the POE camera switch port connected directly to the NVR, I would put the switch on the same network switch the LAN port is on, and then connect the cameras from LAN, instead of on one of the 16 ports. Is that correct? Thanks!

Also, will the cameras pick up the DCHP of my internal network, or will i need to set a static to my cameras. I have the IPOB-EL1MPIR50 cameras. Thanks again!!

Our NVR doesn't have 2 NIC's, we have the NVR-ELCE-16-POE16-DH
