Good day, I´m wondering if connecting a fingerprint reader via ethernet cable (TCP/IP comm) to an NVR, and then the NVR to a switch i could acces the fingerprint reader through the switch? If someone succesfully tried it, please let me know.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Hello,

First of there is no compatibility with our readers and our NVR's, these are used for Access Control Systems such as our Elite Access Control Boards and DX Access Control Boards. Adding this device you speak of to an NVR with a second port will not work for you to access it on your main network.

If you post the model of the reader and what you are trying to accomplish, I can possibly find a solution to your situation.

Hello, and thanks for the quick answer, here´s the model of the reader i have used before:

Brand: Zkteco

Model: Bioterminal F19 - attached to this message

Basically, what I wanted to do is to connect 2 ip cameras and 1 of this readers in some office, like a minimum security pack. Everything connected to the NVR, and with this NVR send one single cable to the main network switch. In order to lay only 1 UTP cable.

The switch is linked to a computer in which the fingerprint reader software is installed, and i would like to gather the informatión of the reader with this (Knowing that the reader uses TCP/IP communication) at the same time that the video footage is recorded on the NVR.

Kinda hoping for the NVR to work as a swtich right?, well that´s it.

Thanks in advance for your time 🙂

P.D. I´m not doing any trials yet, just gathering information about this 🙂

That is not going to work as a recorder with a second network card or an internal PoE switch will isolate the devices connected to it.
