My Nvr is set to record motion only. I have the pre record set for 10 sec, but when people walking or cars driving by they only start to show up about half way on to screen. I would like to record just before they enter the screen. I thought 10 sec pre record would fix this, but it doesn't. Anti dither is 5. The whole region is set at 70 sensitivity, 6 threshold.

Try lowering that Threshold setting first.  It is trial and error between the two settings to get the perfect results.

I've played with the settings. Still the same problem. People or cars just showing up in the middle of the screen. Changed the pre-record to 25 sec. Thought that would definetly fix. Nope. I just don't think that its pre-recording, or if it is, its not showing on playback.

Send Model number, order number, photo of the back, and picture of the system information screen to tech@techprosecurity.com so we can check for firmware updates.

I had the same problem with my NVR. The motion detect only was less than desired. It improved when I set the schedule of recording to motion detect and full time record.

Yes it does use more hdd space but it works better. I have 8ch 8poe NVR.

Then when you search and playback, uncheck the button for regular (green) and then the yellow motion only is left on the timeline and it should improve the playback of motion detect.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, but want to minimize hdd space.

As for a firmware update, I just updated to 2.616.0000.0 , About a month ago. Nvr-elt-4-poe4

That looks like the latest firmware for that unit.  What type of Hard Drive do you have installed in the unit?  It supports up to 4TB.  If you are using anything but a DVR grade Hard Drive or anything over 4TB, you can experience issues.  I have seen some people with issues because they tried to use a 6TB drive or a drive that is not supported.  Make sure you are not exceeding the capabilities of the unit.  We currently do not have any other reports of this issue with this unit.  What cameras are you using, and what are the encoding settings?

Recording Speed: 5MP@7fps | 3MP@15fps | 1080p@30fps | D1@30fps
Resolution: 5Mp(2560×1920)/ 3Mp(2048×1536)/ 1080P (1920×1080) / 720P (1280×720) / D1 (704×480)
