Heres the deal. Internally I set IPCs to 3mp 2500x1440 and the cameras on monitor are 3mp and that makes me happy. But on NVR in encoding the highest select able resolution is 2mp 1920x1080 (the choice for 3mp is not there). You with me. The camera on monitor is truly 3mp but encode says 2mp. Then when I hit apply and save,...... the camera on the monitor goes to 2mp 1920x1080 and that does not make me happy.
So back to IPconfig and tell cam to be 3mp at 20fps and poof monitor jumps to 3mp.
I have 8/12 penta dvr/nvr purchased this week. pendvr-el8 IP Cameras purchased from SCK last 3 years.
Tried updating DVR/NVR software but it says I have latest update from 2017-09-XX
Orlando
Previous 8 ch NVR was from SCK bought in 2015
Note, I love the quality of IP cameras but setting makes my head spin.
Hi Gerald,
I see where you purchased the PENDVR-EL8M4K recently, and I agree it does not make any sense as this recorder doers in fact support up to 4k resolution IP cameras. Have you called in and spoken to any of our technicians?
If not, I would recommend allowing us to log into your network and take a look at the system.

I will call SCK on Monday and let you guys log in to see what is wrong with encoding on Penta NVR.
If anyone has any ideas over the weekend let me know and I'll give it a try.
Thank you

I found the problem.
I mistakenly registered onvif cameras as private. When I went back to registartion and manually added cams from private to onvif, then the higher resolution choice appeared in Encoding on the NVR.
So now I have all my 8 cams at 3mp and can save the settings.
Problem solved.
When registering Onvif cameras, make sure you register as Onvif, not Private.
Thanks for your help in this NVR IPC mistake on my part.
