Since I like my analog ptz, I plan on keeping my ultimate mini in line just for that camera for a while. I will import that channel into a channel in the nvr. Since it is a ptz, do I need to hook up the 485 to the nvr to control it from the nvr channel? And I suppose configure that channel in the nvr for the ptz? I mostly remote view in PSS and there I understand that I could actually import both the dvr and nvr and keep them separate and still work the ptz from the dvr. But ultimately, I'm figuring it's best to not only import the dvr ptz channel to the nvr, but also work it from the nvr as well, for movement, motion detection, and tour that would be triggered from another channels motion detection. Any advice on this? Thanks.
Hi,
There is infact a setting in the PTZ settings where you can change to control a PTZ local or Remote. In your case you can try to import the channel to the NVR and change the settings of the PTZ to remote and see if you can move it from the NVR. Although the NVR allows you to import (Connect) channels from another unit I personally don't recommended, In fact the Manufacturers do not recommended as well. I have seen NVRs rebooting because of that and is just meant to be use with IP cameras instead with another recorder. The PTZ option for remote or local is not designed for DVR PTZ controlling, instead is designed for Joystick control.
