We have a piece of equipment that is the at the center of the area we are monitoring with the cameras all with an Dahaua Elite series NVR.
We need to know if that machine shuts down (automatically) for any number of reasons so we can get someone out there to fix the issue and re-start it.
Some years ago I took advantage of the local alarm inputs on the Elite NVR and set it up so that it would send an email anytime that local alarm input changed state. SMTP challenges no longer make that possible, at least I have not been able to resolve it.
Per the advice of Tech Pro's support, (great resource by the way!) I set up the NVR on DMSS to send a notification to anyone we need to get that notification and it is working OK, but there are limitations. You only get one notification, at least on iOS, and you are unable to choose the sound of the notification so it doesn't always get your attention because of the many other notifications I get every day.
Another issue... when I had the email notifications working I also got a notification when the alarm cleared. This does not happen with the DMSS method.
So, can anyone advise how I could make DMSS work better for me, or give me advice on a good, working SMTP server so I could resume using that option?
Thought I would post it here before I call tech support again so others may benefit from the solution!
