 9988 is the port for early stages of onvif implementation in DAHUA. The current one is 9989.

I suggest not to use the FTP upload feature on the IP camera since it will create a different file structure just because it will give you headaches trying to figure out the correct path for your coding. Use the Software that you where utilizing. I am almost done with the article. I will PM you the coding just so you have an idea how i tackled this issue.

Jose: Success!!! My failures with the snapshot seem to have come town simply to using the wrong port.  The right port is 9989 for my camera...not the 9988 I was trying before.  Thanks for your help and patience figuring this out.  I look forward to seeing your article when you are done.

If you have a chance once you have enough footage post a timelapse video in this post. I saw the camera feed and it seems it will show a nice video.
