I got my first 3 megapixel camera up and running. The hard part was finding the ip address of the camera. I used the config software on the mini cd that came with the cam. The 3 mega pixel cam was behind a switch behind a router. I rebooted the modem/router and opened up the router to find the client list and there was an unkown device with an ip address. I plugged that ip into the config cam software and viola, I was able to open and look at the camera! I'm not complaining, this is the first time ever with ip cams so I know there would be a learning curve. I have used analog cams for years being so-so happy with 704x480 resolution.
BUT THEN I SAW 3MP 2500x1500 AND 2MP 1920x1080 SNAPSHOTS AND VIDEOS AND HOLY COW, IMPRESSIVE!
I can see my backyard so clear and cars two blocks away! Megapixel cams can capture license plates with ease.
We truly live in modern times!

(i don't even have my NVR yet)
Good evening and welcome again to the forum, yes the config tool will see the IP camera you just have to make sure that you use the right tool for the right camera. Example if you have LX, TP or EL series cameras they all have there own ip finder/config tool, you can look for the proper tool here:

Yes the difference between the Resolutions is out of this world check out this video:

Gilberto thank you for the link to Ver 2 of the config ip cams tool. I set up my 2nd ip cam and it was much easier with Version 2. The config tool does not find the correct ip address. ( i know it assigns xxx.108) It does not use proper gateway numbers either. Honestly I get the right ip address from looking at my client list in my Brighthouse modem/router. Then I plug in the ip address and gateway address into config tool and then the camera comes alive. In my case the config tool finds the camera on your net but not with the correct numbers. After you input the correct numbers the ipcam starts to work.
Not complaining but that was my way of getting the cams to work.
System order, Brighthouse router, trendnet poe+ switch then the cameras. My NVR has not arrived yet from SCK.com. (i will take a free upgrade, in lieu of waiting, lol)
I am putting my scenario out there for any new person to see what I did to get things working, hope it helps.
Thanks again.
