Hi,
Just received my new NVR-ELM-8-POE-8-DH which seems to be perfect for my application. I want to take advantage of the alarm input feature on the NVR by installing a wireless PIR which would trigger my PTZ to record if motion is detected. Can anyone suggest a good outdoor unit that will work with my NVR? Am I right in assuming that a receiver comes with most units which would wire into the alarm panel on this NVR?
Thanks,
Tubac
Hi Tubac,
I would love to help you out wiring a PIR sensor to the alarm panel on the NVR. However, I do not follow what you mean when you say "Am I right in assuming that a receiver comes with most units which would wire into the alarm panel on this NVR?" What receiver are you looking for? Also, you want a recommendation on an outdoor PTZ or on a PIR sensor? Thanks.

Hi,
Sorry it wasn't very clear.
When i mentioned a receiver, I was referring to the receiver on a wireless pir . I am assuming, maybe wrongly that the wireless pir
has to communicate by radio to some sort of receiver. I was looking for a wireless pir recommendation that would trigger my PTZ camera to record when motion is detected because the electronic motion detection on my 20x ptz is constantly triggering in even the slightest wind or vibration.

I get it, thanks. I was thought there might be a product like my battery operated Driveway Alert. It comes in two parts one part with the pir sensor and a radio transmitter and the other part with a radio receiver with an audible alarm. It is good for 100 meters and works through walls. I guess nothing like that exists?
Thanks,
Tubac
hey tubac, we just installed several wireless pirs to a 32 channel hy-brid system. we used optex 40rami wireless pirs which come with an inovonics transmitter that works up to 2000 ft. We set these up to be received by an inovonics receiver EN4216mr. This receiver has 16 inputs and 6 outputs that are Form C outputs. you can program the inputs to transfer over to an output, then wire the output into your dvr inputs. The batteries on the PIRs last about 2-3 years.
