i have had my electrician pre-wire the outside of my house for security cameras with Cat6 wiring(locations of wires can be moved).  I am wondering if anyone can help suggest cameras for a home set up.  My home is fairly large over 4k sqft and i am located in the north east (ny).  I think with the wire i have run an IP system is what i should go with but i am not sure about the cameras. dome vs bullet.  Also i am not sure if i need to worry about operating temp of the cameras.  While not the norm in the winter there may be periods of below freezing temps.  Most of the cameras i have looked at have an operating range of 14 degrees up or 24 degrees and up.  if there were to be a day where it was 5 degrees would the camera stop working?

i figure i need 7-9cameras

1-front door

2-garage door and back door i figure the camera by the garage door can cover the left side of the house

1 along back of house

2 cris crossing the front of house

1 along the right side of house

i have attached a survey of the house, any guidance with regard to type of cameras, placement etc.   would be appreciated.

Hi Brian,

Welcome to Our Forum.

I can assist you with Designing a System that will meet your needs. When it comes to Domes Vs. bullets it is simply a matter of preference there are situations where one is better than the other and it would be in a corner where you want to "peek" into another area and not expose the whole camera that is where you would go with a bullet, when it comes to Domes they can be installed on a wall or ceiling and these are mainly used for interior  top of door etc. Personally I prefer Domes over bullets.

I am going to review your layout and will send you an email with the complete design as well as a Quote.

Please send me a PM with your Information that will help me organize the Quote with your account. You can also send it to my email, it is in my Signature ;)
