I have model DVR-LT8240MHD.    I wanted to connect my DVR to my home alarm system using the normally closed Alarm Output but it appears only Normally Open is supported?   It appears the wire connection has to be made to the NO and C terminals but this wired connection only supports Normally Open (which seems to work).   I tried wiring the NO terminal to ground and also the C terminal to ground but this did not work.   I did my experimentation with Alarm Output 1.   The diagram at the back of the DVR does seem to imply that only Normally Open is supported?

Correction, I didn't wire the terminals to ground;  I meant to say:   "I tried wiring to the NO and Ground terminals and also to the C and Ground terminals but these did not work."

The pin out is only going to show you NO, you can choose between NO or NC in the DVR's menu. Under the alarm settings you should find a drop down to choose between the two.

I wired Alarm Input and works ok;  it has drop down menu for NO/NC but Alarm Output does not have NO/NC menu.  I could only find Alarm Output menu that allowed Schedule/Manual/Stop.  Main Menu>Settting>Alarm only has options for Event Type Alarm Input.   This is using mouse on dvr vga display screen.

I looked too Robert (Just out of curiosity) and I understand your issue. I don't see a way to change alarm output either. You could however accomplish this using a relay if all else fails. Fairly simple.

Simple but a relay needs to be powered.   I am not engineer so probably safest to use separate power source, even though relay has small inductive load.
