I am setting up my TRIDVR-ELE4ME system purcahsed at Security Camera King. Under network there is an option to connect to a wifi hotspot. Presumably there is not a wifi adapter built-in, so I plugged in a small usb wifi dongle that works on my smart TV and Raspberry Pi. I have rebooted the box with the dongle plugged in but it looks as if the device is not recognised.

How can I use the wifi to put my box online?

Thanks in advnace.

This recorder simply shares the firmware of another model that has built-in wifi. instaling a wifi dongle will not work as it requires it to be compatible, there are no compatible off the shelf dongles. If you must use a wireless solution you can use a Wireless Extender with a LAN port on it. This would extend the wireless signal and also output the network through the LAN making whatever non-wireless device "Wireless".

Thanks for confirming the wifi is not possible.

Another question I have - is it possible with any PC software to configure the box remotely. I plan to put the box away in a cupboard where I do not have a monitor. Can I gain access to the menu options without plugging a monitor directly into the DVR?

Thanks in advance.

I see that you have an Elite Recorder, with Elite recorders you have two options use Internet Explorer or Smart PSS which is a CMS software for programing, viewing the cameras or downloading or viewing footage, with Mac OS you only have the option for Smart PSS and Safari no longer supports the plugin required to view and operate the recorder via the WEB GUI since 2019 as Apple removed support.

Thank you - Smart PPS does the job perfectly. I can now configure the DVR remotely and I love the interface - awesome!

Another final question. I am trying to set up WAN access. I have created port forward rules within my modem:

37777 TCP / 37778 UDP

Do I port forward to the IP of the box or my PC running smart pps?

Also I can then access the box presumably with:

myip.com:37777

Thanks.
