In the detection menu in my ultimate mini, there is a test button and when I click on it the blocking screen comes up and shows me the detection blocking I set up. How do I use this to test the detection I set up? I thought the test button would in some way help me to avoid going outside and creating movement. How do I use the test button?
That looks like you are referring to the button labeled select that lets you pick what areas to mask out motion. Are you using the web service or the the interface at the dvr?

No, in the local dvr interface. At the bottom of the detect menu, there's a 'test' button. I guess it needs actual motion happening. Just not sure how test works. Thanks.
The squares change color to indicate they are getting motion. The idea behind it is to see if there is an area you need to mask out or not have masked out.
