I have three 16-channel Ultimate Series H.264 D1 DVR (DVR-LT016480). I recently started using SmartPSS (Mac OS X), which is really nice compare to the older PSS (Mac OS X) software. The SmartPSS has trouble accessing two of the older DVRs though.

The one DVR-LT016480 DVR that SmartPSS works fine with is: s/n PA1HQ05600203, SW ver. # 2.610.GV00.0, build 2013-2-18. It's the only DVR that can be accessed with a web browser ("Web Service").

These two older DVR-LT016480 DVRs does not play back recordings on SmartPSS and gives the error message "Failed to start playback. DHNETSDK returns error.":

s/n PA0EF04000418, SW ver. # 2.606.0000.0, build 2-10-2010, order # 1390-101008 (10-8-2010).

s/n PA2CF00700653, SW ver. # 2.608.0000.0, build 2-22-2012, order # 7272-120624 (6-24-2012).

These two older DVRs also respond very slowly to the SmartPSS Device CFG.

I think I need the firmware updates for the two older DVRs since the newest one with SW ver. # 2.610.GV00.0 works fine. Please advise. Thank you!

Older DVRs work well with the older PSS since they are from the same era.  One thing you can try to get around the failed playback issue is by clicking the Event button on the left, then selecting a file, then click play.  It could be that only the timeline playback is not working and you may be able to access playback from the files directly.eventbutton.PNGImage Enlarger

So the software on the older DVR-LT016480 DVRs are not upgradable to version # 2.610.GV00.0 ?

The Event playback workaround does work for both older DVRs. Thank you.

You could try to send us pictures of the DVRs Back, front and inside main board with the model numbers, firmware version and build date of each to see if there is a newer firmware. These 2 units are very old. We normally don't change the models of he units but the internals change very quickly so firmware is different for newer hardware

The Event playback workaround does work, and I know it is an inconvenience not to have a working timeline.  But electronics that are part of an era are likely stuck in that era.   Send pictures to tech@techprosecurity.com and we can check for firmware updates for your unit.
