Dear all,
I am having difficulty retrieving my video files from the hard disk of my CCTC DVR system. The system was damaged due to an electric voltage failure. I needed the video footage recorded in the hard disk badly, so I removed the hard disk and connected it to a brand new DVR system that I recently bought. The problem is that the new device does not recognize the hard disk. I have also tried to connect the hard disk to a PC but it is not recognized either. How can I get the video footage from this DVR hard disk? Any help is much appreciated.
Hello and welcome to the Forum, without the model and make of the original order it would be very hard to provide you with a solution on how to retrieve your data and also the drive may also be completely damaged as well as the 3-volts and 5-volt rails of recorders are directly connected to the drive, another thing is that some recorders will encrypt the data on the drive so adding the drive onto another recorder if it's not the same make and brand may delete the files if they are still intact which is not likely from your description, one way to check what the make of the recorder is would be to find a sticker that has the mac address in which case you can see the vendor ID by inputting this onto macvendors.com.
Best of luck.
