This is going to be a long one, because I have multiple issues, that I'm managing to figure out. I have a PENDVR-EL16M4K-AI DVR recorder with 9 cameras connected. I have a total of 6tb of HDD space. I also have a Western digital EX4100 NAS that I would like to back up my recordings to. According to the HDD estimator, I have about 45 days of recordings with the 6TB until it overwrites the drives. With my NAS as a backup, I wanted to keep my recordings a little longer, which will allow my DVR to overwrite the internal drives without issue. Here are the issues I'm having so far;
I cannot get my NAS to be recognized by the USB port of the back of the DVR. Neither machine sees each other. I figured out that the USB port on the back of the NAS and DVR have a "Host port". I've connected several thumbdrives and a few external HDD and the DVR recognized them all. At first, I thought that it was the usb cable that connected the two, but I was able to eliminate that.
I managed to set up FTP settings on both my NAS and DVR. They see each other fine, but I cant figure out how to copy recordings over the the folder on my NAS. The instructions and videos aren't that clear, and the interface setup is different on my machine than what I see in the videos.
I know that I need to setup alarm alerts to get the DVR to upload to the NAS folder, but not having any luck.
Also, I need a little bit of guidance in updating firmware on DVR.. It says it is up to date, but don't remember doing an update once I got everything online.
I'd appreciate any help at this point.
Unfortunately, the USB ports will treat any USB Drive as a backup drive, which means you can only use it to manually backup the system and not as an internal drive for footage. With your NAS unless its showing this USB as drive it will not work as it would require software in order for this to work and since this system is a closed system you are unable to install software onto it. Perhaps a device with esata may work for you, but then again it may not as its a compatibility issue were esata may only work with esata devices that are set up in JBOD mode, since there are so many out there it would require your testing to see if that would be a solution for you.

Thank you for the response. I kindof figured as much. So, I can get both devices to see each other through the network on ethernet connection. I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to get video/snapshots to upload to a file on my NAS. Can you give me pointers as to how I can proceed in copying files through ethernet?
Thank you
What's the make and model of the NAS device?

Based on the manufacturers site the NAS can do FTP, you can push a snapshot based on motion to an FTP server which in this case would be your WD NAS device.

Good afternoon again,
I managed to add the app to my desktop. I'm still learning how to navigate through it(the instructions aren't deatailed). However, I have another question. Is there any mobile app that I can use besides "Easyview"?? I cant look over recorded video over my phone. Thanks
You can use Elite Viewer Pro for IOS or Android and for your Desktop you can use Smart PSS. See our Downloads page for the Smart PSS.
