I am starting to figure out (and fine tuning) my motion detection settings to my liking. I understand now the importance of the sensitivity setting... a couple of notches one way or the other make a big difference on what is recorded! I also understand "Threshold" now thanks to another thread here, but there I have a couple of questions.
What does "Latch" do? I looked it up in the manual, but it is not explained in simple enough terms for me!
Where can I set how much time is recorded, or saved before the motion was detected... in other words, when motion is detected I would like to see the 30 seconds immediately preceding the triggered event.
Finally, the old "Brand X" analog DVR I replaced with my TRIDVR-ELE8M had a neat feature where, when viewing multiple camera's on a monitor, with one camera being in a larger frame that the others (thumbnails lets say)... any time motion was detected on any of the other camera's, that camera would automatically take the largest frame on the monitor. Say Cam 1 has the largest frame on the monitor and Cam 7 detects motion... Cam 7 would then be switched to the largest frame on the monitor. Is there a setting that will do this on the TRIDVR-ELE8M DVR? The old DVR also had a screen icon that would flash whenever motion was detected.
Thanks folks!
mbkerk,
To my understanding, latch is same as post record. How long after the motion it will record for.
For Pre record you need to go under the schedule tab. At the top you will see an option for Pre-Record.
The closest we can get to that feature of your Brand "x" DVR is no matter what view your viewing in you can set any of the cameras to pop up full screen when motion happens. This will only work at the local interface, not through the web.
Also at the local interface, you will see a red icon pop up whenever motion happens on that camera. It looks like a running man.

Got it! on the Latch and the Pre Record settings. That is helpful.
Where do i set it to go full screen on motion detect on the local interface?
I am learning that there is some things that need to be set locally and not via Smart PSS (I'm a Mac user). Would more of the same (Local) settings be available if I used a Windows PC and IE for access?
Thanks Heath!

Just to update here... I ended up chatting with Heath in an online live chat and he eventually got through my thick skull and I got the desired results. Documentation is poor at best with these DVR's (not a SCC / Techpro's issue) but I have found that if I get the experts like Heath on the phone, or online I can always find the answers to my questions.
Unfortunately, it would take me an hour to try to explain what has to happen to make things work like I wanted. It involves settings in many area's of the l;local interface.
Thanks Heath!
