I am looking for an app to convert "DAT" files and not having much luck. I was also wondering why the DVR uses the dat format or why it does not convert the files to a readable format when saving to a flash drive?

The recorder utilizes the DAV format since it is a RAW format untouched by any converter it can be used in court if there is ever a need to.

This is an old post but incase anyone else is searching, there is a Mac DAV converter available for download on my site (free).
Techvision can feel free to distribute it on their download page, it is from the Dahua Mac SDK.
PS. Dav monitor is some older software I wrote, discontinued now though.
There are also the updated Dav converters for Windows.
