Hi,  While the DVR (model EL016480) output is rated as 1080p the video screens report input from it as 1280x 1024 from both the HDMI and VGA outputs.  I understand 1080p as 1920x1080.  The output is also 4:3 ratio and I have to set the monitors to "stretch" or "widescreen".  Is this normal? Am I missing a setting or what?

Hi Craig,

That is a pretty old model, I am not sure off hand of the specs, but if you go into display settings and change the resolution see if you have the 1920x1080 option. It is not normal that you should have to stretch the screen in order for it to work. Has it been like this since day one or is this recent behavior?

Thanks

Hi Heath,

Not quite 2 years old yet!

I took a look under config, and again don't find "display" settings (This is from the computer web).  Where are they?

Every interface may be different, if you have it set up for remote access I can log in and take a look if you would like.

I access it remotely, but wouldn't I have to give my password for you to do so?  Over this forum?

Yes, but I understand why you wouldn't want to do that so call me at (561) 948-2614 ext. 124 and we will work it out over the phone!

Lines busy, left you a message: phone number.  Could it be that 1280x1024 is considered 1080p on a 4:3 display?  And this DVR only capable of 4:3 output?

What exactly is the issue?  If you have a monitor that uses 1280x1024 resolution, do not stretch the image or alter it in any way.  What type of monitor are you using?  If you look at the specifications of that monitor, it should tell you what to set the DVR display settings to.  It is best to set the Display settings to the NATIVE resolution of the monitor.

Jeff,

The issue is my trying to figure out why the screens show 1280x1024 instead of 1920x1024. I have multiple 1080p widescreen tvs wired to the HDMI output and have also used VGA connections at times.  I do not see any "display" settings on the configuration for the DVR, at least not through the "web service".  Do I have to go directly to the DVR's hard wired display to find "display" settings?

The DVRs support one display setting as a main display and any type of third party splitter is unsupported.  Second screens are usually done through a spot out or Video Matrix option.  If you are standing at the DVR directly, and only using one monitor, you should be able to change the display setting from 1280x1024 to 1920x1080.  Both settings are options in the Display area of the settings.  NOTE:  Any VGA connection could set the unit to default to 1280x1024 as it could be anticipating a 4:3 ratio monitor.

Are you saying then, that the "display" settings are only available on the monitor hard wired to the DVR and not through the "web service"?

Some DVRs, especially older ones, may not have the Display settings available from the Web Service.  Newer ones should all have that option available.  If the option is not available, there could be a firmware option for the DVR that may add that feature to web service.  To inquire about firmware updates, send an email to tech@techprosecurity.com with a picture of the back of the unit, the mainboard, order number, model number, and a screenshot of your Version number and build date.
