Been using this DVR for years with zero maintenance or issues. Was recently unplugged for 2 months, now it turns on and runs for 5 mins and keeps self restarting. In the logs it says Error 0x04 have no idea what that is suppose to mean. Maybe a firmware upgrade would be good if there is one?

Due to the age of the recorder it would be best to verify a few things:
CPU Fan is functional ( if its not the CPU may already have damage due to overheating)
Hard Disk Drive : If the drive is older than 2years, please verify that its indeed working, drives can create issues such as boot loops, slowness of the system, menus not loading etc.. ( The OS is not on the hard drive), a method to test this out is to turn off the unit disconnects the drive and turn it on then see how it functions.
The error you are reporting is in regards to recording. As for the firmware of the recorder, this was the last firmware for this unit.
