I've tried the backup process on two separate DVRs and they both return the same results. The process works as long as you select a small time range but if you select a full month such as 12/1/13 to 12/31/13 and select ALL camera channels you'll only get 4-6 days worth and only on channel 1. I've tried this multiple times in a few different ways and always get the same basic results. The HD I'm backing up to is an empty 3TB drive with 2.7GBs free so there is plenty of space to backup to. I spoke to someone about this over the phone a few days ago and he was going to do some testing and get back with me but I never heard from him. I was hoping that posting here might give some insight into why this is happening. These are the DVRs I've tested with...

The HDs I've been testing with for a backup target have been a USB 1TB drive and a 3TB drive using the StarTech SuperSpeed USB 3.0 eSATA Hard Drive Docking Station. This docking station is one that I found was compatible with the DVRs.
I know I'm burning the forums up lately but am planning to ramp up the camera portion of my business so I'm attempting to learn as much as possible as fast as possible. I appreciate the quick feedback these forums offer.

I want one of our techs to comment on this process for you. I do not have direct experience with the back up process using the E-SATA ports. However, I don't see any way you could possibly fit an entire month of back up for a Hybrid DVR on a single 1 TB or 3 TB drive. Again, it's just my two cents. I have never performed the backup myself.
On another note, why not use our backup scheduler software and just schedule an automatic daily backup? We have software specifically designed for this.

I need to download and try the backup scheduler. I have not worked with it yet.
Both DVR's I was testing the backup process on had a 3TB drive and they both were under 50% full (recording motion only since Sept.) so I would expect to be able to backup more than one month to an empty 3TB drive.
I did complete the backup process even though it only selected about 6 days and only channel 1. The process worked I just couldn't get all the data I wanted. Once it was complete the drive was only about 5% full. I then did a second backup process and again it worked but could only give me a few days and only one channel.

I have been trying to get my hands on a esata cable to test. I am sorry for the delay.
The limitation on back up using E-sata are 1024 records at one time. Date, time and channel makes no difference to back up more records at one time. Depending on the unit you have you can configure back up e-sata on a schedule. The schedule would at least do that for you.
