I have a customer looking for a residential solution with the following requirements:
4 Indoor/Outdoor Cameras - No Audio
4 Indoor/Outdoor Cameras - With Audio
16 channel DVR to allow future expansion
Adequate storage to give him at least a month's worth of history
Ability to "ZOOM" in during Live Stream or during playback for identifying faces of trespassers

I have installed a LOREX LH030 4 camera/ 8channel system at my father's beauty shop and a SPECO D8RS 8channel at my place of business. The SPECO has the "ZOOM" in capability and seems like a good brand, but it is a bit out of the budget range of my customer. I had high hopes for the LOREX system, but after it was installed I found that camera feeds could only be viewed in "portrait view" in the Lorex ECO Stratus application they provide and there is no way to "ZOOM" in on the live feed or during playback. When you turn your smart phone to the side, the feed frustratingly only stays in portrait veiw and does not switch to wide screen.

If necessary, I can install cameras without audio, then install a mic, and run a 2 conductor wire to the locations that he wants audio. Advice from some of you experienced installers and technicians would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When you refer to "Zoom" are you referring to Digital Zoom or an Auto Iris Camera?

Hey Jose.  Thanks for the reply.  When I have the SPECO "Speco Player" application pulled up on my Samsung Galaxy S3, and am viewing the LIVE VIEW of a single camera, I can touch two fingers to the screen and spread them apart to "ZOOM" in on the live feed like you would on any standard smart phone while looking at a picture.  I am not sure whether this is a function of the DVR, the cameras, or just the viewing software.

My Lorex ECO Stratus software does not allow the same functionality.  While viewing a single camera on the Live Feed, that is pretty much all you can do, just view the live feed, no zoom options.  My customer is particularly interested in this feature, but not so interested in the price of the SPECO products.  Do you have any suggestions based on your experience of other DVRs or DVR Brand software that offers this functionality, but more within my customer's price range?  Thanks for your attention.

I can build you a Quote that will be within your Budget , As for the Digital Zoom in our Current version of TechproSS application {IOS&Android] does not have this feature. I can PM you an application as well as a video illustrating how the new version will be as well as the link where you can obtain the Application as of today. ;)
