Maryland Cannabis Security Cameras
Video Surveillance Requirements
Maryland currently offers a quality medical cannabis program that is still in the beginning stages of the process. The goal of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) who overseas and develops policies, procedures and regulations for the Maryland Medical Cannabis Industry is to ensure medical cannabis is available for patients in a safe and effective way.
Maryland’s current Video Surveillance requirements require a complete and secure system, with on and off-site recording. The System requirements are similar to those you would find in recreational states, which ensures that all areas where Marijuana is grown, exchanged or destroyed are properly monitored and secure for Patients, Doctors, and Suppliers. Maryland Medical Marijuana Security System: Basics
As of November 8th, 2016 recreational and medical marijuana are both legal in Nevada. When the law goes into effect, Recreational users who are 21 years of age or older will legally be able to purchase up to 1 ounce of cannabis flower at a time. Currently, Medical Marijuana users who are 18 years and older with a valid medical card can purchase cannabis legally in Nevada. The details on Nevada’s recreational cannabis are still in process, and at this time a handful of licensed medical dispensaries are now open for business to medically approved users.
Resolution requirements for cannabis program call for high quality HD video capable of capturing facial details. Security Cameras are also required to be able to record by motion detection, to ensure any movement within range is automatically recorded and stored. Security Cameras should be placed to capture activity at each entry and exit point on the location. Surveillance cameras are also required in all areas where medical cannabis is packaged, tested, processed, stored and dispensed.
The system is required to operate 24-hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption with accurate date and time stamps. For this we highly recommend that the site’s system be supplied with a battery backup in case of a power outage. Recorded video must also be retained for a minimum of 30 days. Off-site and on location recording is also required.
Access to the video security system for Maryland Medical Marijuana, should be restricted and limited to the property owner and trusted staff members. Law enforcement and the commission also must be allowed access to the locations video security equipment when requested.
